At last night’s meeting the College Governors received the representations that had been written and they reviewed these. Following a debate they approved that the school should now acquire Trust Status and change category to become a Foundation School. The formal proposals that had been published in January were accepted with a modified implementation date of 1st May 2009. Burleigh will now write to the DCSF, the Local Authority and the LSC informing them that we have changed category. The Trust proposals will now be implemented. Shortly a Trustee meeting will be held and an action plan drawn up based on our established vision. We will also work with Staff Associations to finalise our proposed protocol.I firmly believe that this will be an exciting and progressive time for the College. Trust Status will help to cement the very sound progress that has been achieved recently in establishing Burleigh at the forefront of education in Loughborough and I look forward to implementing the benefits that the new status will bring. Many thanks to everyone who has supported this move. The College has welcomed the challenging debate, the detailed analysis and the innovative proposals that have helped shape our vision. This active participation has taken us forward and ensures that we have a detailed brief for the future.
The other partners in the Trust are the FA, AstraZeneca, William Davies Ltd, the NSPCC, Leicestershire County Council, the Primary Care Trust and Loughborough University.
