English as an Additional Language

Ask your High School EAL teacher to tell you if you need to choose EAL as an option.

We will work with you if English is not your first language.  We can help you in the following ways:

E.A.L. Option

This class replaces one GCSE course and can lead to a City and Guilds International ESOL Qualification, at a level suitable to your needs.  Your High School may suggest that you join this class.

You will improve your knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary and practise listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

You will have extra time to work on coursework assignments such as English P.E or Design.

In Class Support

An EAL teacher will work with teachers in some core subject lessons to make sure that you understand the work and help you with coursework.

Intermediate Support

Arrangements can be made to work with a teacher during tutor time to help improve your GCSE grades.
