CONTENT
What you will study for the A/S:
The A2 Year will focus on:
1. Categorising Texts
3. Developing Language
Explores and understands spoken and written text within the English language and how they are affected by audience and context.
Explores the development of language and what has influenced language change in recent centuries and study how humans learn language by studying theorists and significant language experiments.
2. Creating Texts
4. Investigating Language
Allows you to develop personal writing through the creation of texts that either entertain, persuade, inform or instruct.
Coursework – your chance to investigate language by collecting language data, analyse it and discuss your conclusions about what you have found.
How you will be assessed:1. External exam 1hr 30 min – 60% of AS grade, 30% of total A-level
 
2. Coursework – 40% AS, 20% total A level
3. External exam 2 hours – 30% of total A level
4. Coursework – 20% of total A level
 
The examination board is AQA Specification B
Qualifications needed for success at this course:
5 GCSE passes as grade C or above including grade C in both English Language and English Literature.
