Governors join forces: 11-19 Education at Thorpe Hill Campus now a reality

Following the recent consultation, governors at Burleigh Community College and The Garendon High School in Loughborough have voted to form one Governing Body to formally create the united Thorpe Hill 11-19 Campus from January 2012.  This follows the appointment of the Campus Principal, Mark Sutton, who took up his post in October.

Mark said “The consultation responses were very positive with a clear message that the hard federation between the two schools is the right way forward.  From January, with one Principal and one Governing Body, we can put in place the remaining strategies to complete the move to an all-through education.

“What we can now provide at Thorpe Hill Campus is a truly seamless education from the age of 11 to19 without the need to bid for additional resources or go through any lengthy legal processes. We already have the expertise, the specialist resources and the space necessary to make this a reality.  Any student currently at Thorpe Hill campus or joining from next September into Year 7 or any other year group can stay and experience the excellent education available through into the sixth form without the need to change schools.”
